On the occasion of the third year of the International Day of Geodiversity, representatives of the village of Prašník, in cooperation with lecturers of the Little Carpathians Geopark, prepared an interesting environmental and educational event “A Day at the Exhibition: The Story of Rocks and Fossils of Prašník”.

Friday morning, 4 October 2024, was dedicated to geo activities for pupils and students from the surrounding kindergarten and elementary school. The kindergarten children learnt about various palaeontological finds not only from Prašník. This was followed by a story about dinosaurs, an experiment with a volcano and finally an activity producing footprints.

A presentation was prepared for the pupils of Šenkvice primary school about the rocks and fossils of Prašník and the story of their discovery. They also learned through play about the “life” of rocks and basic geological phenomena.

The afternoon program dedicated to the public consisted of activities focused on the basic components of geodiversity (rocks) and processes (karst phenomena, rock-forming and mountain-forming processes). It was also provided through an individual explanation of the exhibition and a presentation on the geodiversity of Prašník and its discovery by Dionýz Štúr.

On Sunday, the Little Carpathians Geopark provided a guided walk through the village of Dechtice, where visitors learned not only about the history of the village, but especially about the use of rocks in the past and present.
